What all I need to know before applying for working holiday visa 417?

A working holiday visa 417 allows citizens of certain countries aged 18–30 to work in Australia on a 12-month temporary visa while they holiday and travel around the country.

However, before you apply, you need to know some very important things about this visa category, including what types of jobs are allowed and whether or not you can change employers if you find one you like better!

What is the 417 Working Holiday Visa?

The Working Holiday Visa is available to citizens aged between 18 and 30. This opportunity is great as it allows young people from these countries an extended holiday in each other's country whilst earning money.

The Working Holiday Visa 417 can be used for 12 months after arrival or 24 months if an extension form is submitted before your current visa expires.

  • Who can apply?

Visas can be applied for by people between 18 and 30 years of age who are not accompanied by dependent children. Applicants must also hold valid passports from their home country and have at least AUD$5000 in cash or savings. You must also have health insurance that covers treatment in Australia. You can only apply under category 417 if you already hold a valid passport.

  • Working Holiday Visa Application Fees

It's important to note that many countries charge a fee to apply for their respective Working Holiday Visa. The United States, Australia, and many other countries charge an application fee to submit an application. The fees vary from country to country. There are separate from any fees required by your employer or agent.

  • How long will it take?

The visa process is generally quite fast but can also be unpredictable. Processing times vary depending on how busy Immigration and Border Protection (i.e., Australian Customs) are at any given time and on how many people are applying at once.

Your application may take up to eight weeks from start to finish; however, if there's an influx of applications or your documentation isn't exactly up-to-date, processing could take significantly longer. If you're worried about timing issues, apply early!
